U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday congratulated Common Asim Munir on his appointment as the Pakistan Army Chief, noting that the 2 nations have a long-standing defence partnership.

In response to a Pentagon readout of the decision, Mr. Austin congratulated Common Munir on his appointment because the Chief of Military Workers and mentioned areas of mutual curiosity in addition to current regional developments.

“In the present day I had the chance to congratulate Common Asim Munir, Pakistan’s newly appointed Chief of Military Workers,” Mr. Austin stated.

“The USA and Pakistan have a long-standing defence partnership and I look ahead to working with Common Munir,” he stated in a tweet.
