The Patiala police on Tuesday arrested singer and lyricist Shree Brar alias Pawandeep Singh Mohali for allegedly glorifying lawlessness in his songs.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vikram Jeet Duggal stated that he had launched a track ‘JAAN’ on on-line platform YouTube with provocative lyrics selling violence and delinquent acts to the extent of even offering shelter to the criminals and gangsters, and inspiring them to interrupt jails.
“The lyrics of the song very much encourage the youth to commit crimes and anti-social acts,” the SSP stated.
The SSP stated that an FIR was registered in opposition to the singer underneath sections 500 (defamation), 501 (printing or engraving matter recognized to be defamatory), 502 (sale of printed or engraved substance containing defamatory matter), 505, 115, 116 and 120-B (legal conspiracy) of the IPC at Civil Lines police station.
The SSP stated that singer Brar was arrested by CIA employees, Patiala, from Sector 91, Mohali. He stated that the track sung by him was geared toward deceptive the widespread man and the youth in addition to inciting them to commit heinous crimes.
