TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law questioned, wife tells CBI to come on Tuesday


A CBI workforce questioned Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law Menaka Gambhir on Monday, a day after summons have been issued to her in an alleged coal pilferage case. Banerjee’s spouse Rujira, towards whom summons had additionally been issued, advised the CBI that she could be obtainable at her residence between 11 am and three pm Tuesday.

In a letter to the company on Monday, Rujira stated, “Though I am unaware of the reason for me being called for questioning or the subject matter of the investigation, you may visit my residence, as per your convenience, between 11 pm and 3pm tomorrow, i.e. 23rd February, 2021.”

The nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee has been the goal of the BJP’s assaults in its Assembly election marketing campaign. A CBI workforce together with two girls officers spent round three hours at Gambhir’s home within the Kolkata suburbs. The case of alleged unlawful coal mining and pilferage from the Kunustoria and Kajoria coal fields of Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) was filed by the CBI on November 27, 2020, beneath IPC Sections 120B (legal conspiracy) and 409 (legal breach of belief by a public servant) in addition to beneath the Prevention of Corruption Act.
